Andrew Mickel worked for a London based planning consultancy before joining Scottish Homebuilder Mactaggart and Mickel. As a director of the company he is now responsible for directing the land and planning department and driving the company’s joint venture initiatives.
He is also Vice Chairman of Homes for Scotland where he is actively involved in many policy consultations from the Scottish Executive, in particular the Planning Bill and its associated secondary legislation.
His responsibilities at Mactaggart & Mickel include steering a course through the often choppy waters of the planning system. The company’s current chapter of masterplanned developments includes projects in Glasgow’s West End, Bo’ness, Fountainbridge in the capital and the South East Wedge, Midlothian. Although the company is currently in a strong growth phase, being family run it continues to recognise the design agenda and the need for lasting community benefits.
