Barry Shafe Project Director – Edinburgh Science Triangle

Barry Shafe joined the Edinburgh Science Triangle project in 2007.

The Edinburgh Science Triangle brings together the capital region's universities and research institutes, science parks, local government authorities and Scottish Enterprise.  The twin economic development objectives of the partnership project are to attract new investment to the Edinburgh Science Triangle area and to build a scientific community with unparalleled levels of interaction and knowledge exchange between academic research and industry.  The project is now entering its third phase and is part-funded by European Structural Funds.

Barry’s career has spanned brand marketing, product innovation and development of emerging markets with multinationals; consultancy in strategy, innovation and international marketing; and commercial and general management of high growth SMEs serving the consumer, b2b and the public sectors.  He has worked with market leaders and pioneers including PZCussons, Revlon Cosmetics, Slendertone, Krka Pharmaceuticals, BOC Gases, j4b, Unigate, and Northern Foods.  He graduated from the engineering faculty at the University of Nottingham and has an MBA with distinction from Ashridge Business School.
