Councillor Ewan Aitken

Councillor Ewan Aitken is the former Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council.

He was elected to the City of Edinburgh Council serving first as Vice Convener of the Education Committee, then as Convener of the Social Justice Scrutiny Panel and as Executive Member for Education, now Children and Families, from 2001-06.

From 2003-06 he was CoSLA spokesperson for Education and Joint Convener of the Scottish Negotiating Committee with Teachers.

He is a Church of Scotland Minister and is a member of the Iona Community and the Christian Socialist Movement. In his spare time Ewan enjoys reading, cooking, cinema, sudoku and watching sport, but his real love is spending time with his wife and 2 young children.
