Charlie was re-elected MSP for Glasgow Cathcart on 3rd May 2007.
He was elected to Strathclyde Regional Council in 1987 and was its last Transport Convener 1994-96, he was then the fist Chairman of Strathclyde Passenger Transport Authority 1996-99.
He was Deputy Leader of Glasgow City Council from 1997-99 and Leader from 1999-2005.
He presided over the construction of 40 new schools, the Glasgow Housing Stock Transfer, the initial £2.3bn of investment in Glasgow's Clyde Waterfront and the creation of over 60,000 jobs.
Charlie Gordon was born in Glasgow in 1951 and educated at St Mungo's Academy and Langside College.
