Sheila Riddell is currently Director of the Centre for Research in Education Inclusion and Diversity at the University of Edinburgh.
She taught for seven years in a rural comprehensive school in the south west of England before completing a PhD in gender and education at Bristol University. She moved to Scotland in 1988, and has worked in the broad area of education and social policy since then.
Most of her research is concerned with specific aspects of equality, and she has a particular interest in gender, disability and social class.
