Director of Children's Services
NCH Scotland
Andrew Girvan took up post as Director of Children’s Services in NCH Scotland in April 2005, as the organisation was celebrating 50 years of delivering services in Scotland. Andrew, who originally qualified as a Social Worker in 1979, has worked almost exclusively in Child and Family Services since then. He has spent most of his career in a variety of management posts in what was previously Strathclyde Region, until local government re-organisation in 1996.
Prior to joining NCH Scotland, Andrew worked for a number of years as the Child and Family Services Manager in South Lanarkshire Council, where he had responsibility for service delivery and played a lead role in terms of Children’s Services Planning. Over the years Andrew has contributed to and participated in a number of working groups through the Scottish Executive and Association of Directors of Social Work (ADSW) aimed at improving the quality of Children’s Services in Scotland.
