Professor Martin Innes is Director of the Universities' Police Science Institute at Cardiff University. He is the author of the books Investigating Murder (2003, Oxford University Press) and Understanding Social Control (2003, Open University Press) as well as a large number of scholarly articles and reports. Innes is also the serving editor of the journal Policing and Society published by Routledge.
Between 2003 and 2005 he led the research for the National Reassurance Policing Programme funded by the Home Office and Association of Chief Police Officers. He was an advisor to the Flanagan Review on Policing and has been a consultant to the Home Office, ACPO and a number of other government and international agencies.
His current research includes empirical and theoretical studies of social reactions to crime and disorder, and the police role in counter-terrorism.
