Currently Derek Barron is the national clinical leadership programme – Delivering the Future.
Since October 2007 Derek has been the Associate Nurse Director, Mental Health Services in NHS Ayrshire and Arran. The mental health services are going through a programme of transformation which will deliver exemplar, patient centred and values based services.
Prior to October he worked in Greater Glasgow and Clyde for over twenty years; at the point of leaving he was on secondment to the post of Nurse Director, Mental Health Partnership from his substantive post as Head of Mental Health and Partnerships in East Dunbartonshire CHP, where he was also the Lead Nurse Advisor.
Derek worked within the community from 1993 to 2006, initially as a CPN before becoming a locality manager, from 2001 he managed two CMHTs and their associated Crisis Teams and Primary Care Mental Health Teams.
He is married, with two girls, living in Renfrewshire.
