Prof Neil Hutton Print E-mail
Professor Neil Hutton, MA (Edin), PhD (Edin), has worked at the Law School in the University of Strathclyde since 1990.

In 2005, he was elected  Dean of the Faculty of Law, Arts and Social Sciences. Neil was the Director of the Centre for Sentencing Research until 2005. He was a leading member of the team which developed and implemented a Sentencing Information System for the High Court of Justiciary.  

Other research includes a study of public knowledge and attitudes to sentencing and punishment in Scotland (2002), and an ESRC funded project on Social Enquiry Reports in the Sheriff Court (2006). He was a member of the Sentencing Commission for Scotland (2003-06), and currently serves on the National Advisory Body for Offender Management and the Scottish Consortium on Crime and Criminal Justice.
