Kevin started with the commission in May 2006 and spent two years as Central Scotland Health Advisor before taking up his current post of access, health and recreation policy advisor. He oversees FCS woods for health strategy and develops pathfinder projects with the NHS and allied health professionals to promote health & wellbeing through the use of local woodlands.
Kevin’s started his career in public health 15 years ago working as a community development and workplace health advisor in the South side of Glasgow. He worked with Greater Glasgow NHS Board’s, Health Promotion department for 10 years starting as a geographic health promotion officer focussing on tackling health inequalities in deprived communities within Glasgow.
He was promoted to Senior Health Promotion Officer for Physical Activity in 1999. This post involved managing the Board’s Physical Activity program and Glasgow’s Live Active GP exercise referral scheme.
Kevin originally studied Sport in the Community at Strathclyde Universities, Jordanhill Campus in Glasgow and went onto complete a postgraduate Diploma in Health Education and Health Promotion at the same institution in 2002
He is a firm believer in practising what you preach and regularly bikes and runs in local woodland as well as hiking.
