Marie is a Health Visitor in the west end of Glasgow. She is Chair of UNISON ‘s largest health branch, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and is also the Lead Professional Officer for Nursing. She is Chair of the West Community Health Care Partnership Forum. She has worked in the NHS for 32 years, formerly as a Registered General Nurse, Midwife and Sick Children’s Nurse. She has been a Health Visitor for 16 years.
She was elected as Chair of UNISON’s largest Branch (with 17,000 members) in 2006 ,and was previously Primary Care Convenor. .She has been instrumental in raising concerns about the general direction of generic community nursing with the board and representing nursing staff across Glasgow. Marie divides her working week managing a health visiting case load, dealing with all aspects of trade union work and carrying out her partnership duties.
