Jean Carwood-Edwards is the Early Years Team Leader within Learning and Teaching Scotland. Starting out as a Primary Teacher with an additional early years specialist qualification, Jean initially worked in nursery schools before going on to primary and then into the Further Education sector, firstly as an Early Education and Childcare Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and then Head of Department.
Jean’s post before joining LTS in September 2008, was as Head of School of Education at James Watt College of Further and Higher EducationJean worked in partnership with the University of Strathclyde to design, develop and deliver the new degree BA Education and Social Services.
As well as serving as a member of different local authority childcare partnerships, Jean has consistently worked at national level on a range of steering and working groups to help take forward areas of work linked to early childhood learning and development, workforce and CPD priorities, Scottish qualification developments and other initiatives within the sector. Jean currently represents LTS on a number of groups, including the SSSC Childcare Practice Development Group (CPDG), formerly known as the Technical Expert Group (TEG).
