Ian has worked in the voluntary youth work and childcare sectors for twenty years and has been Chief Executive of SPPA since 2001.

SPPA works with and supports around 1400 member providers and approx. 40,000 children and has a vital partnership role with the Scottish Government, local authorities, and other childcare agencies to determine policy and develop services for young children.

Currently Ian represents the sector on one of the task groups for the Government’s Early Years and Early Intervention Framework. He also sits on the Care Commission’s National Quality and Consistency Forum, the Policy Committee of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) and is former Convenor, and currently Treasurer, of the Association of Chief Officers for Scottish Voluntary Organisations (ACOSVO) Board of Directors.
