Richard Brunstrom Print E-mail
Richard Brunstrom joined Sussex Police in 1979 as a zoology graduate.  He spent 11 years with the Force.

In 1990, he moved to Greater Manchester Police as a Superintendent, and was appointed as an Assistant Chief Constable in Cleveland in September 1995.  Richard was subsequently promoted to Deputy Chief Constable in that Force.

He joined North Wales Police at the beginning of 2000 and was appointed Chief Constable in January 2001.

Richard is also the ACPO lead on Stray Dogs and Dangerous Dogs.  He also leads the ACPO working group on wildlife crime and jointly with Defra, co-chairs the acclaimed Partnership for Action against Wildlife crime (PAW).  He has successfully raised the profile of wildlife crime, not only within the police service, but in other areas of government and amongst GOs.  A number of successful initiatives have been concluded including the formation of the National Wildlife Crime Intelligence Unit, the identification of wildlife crime priorities, and close partnership working with conservation agencies.  Many of his initiatives have been recognised by parliament as being best practice.
