With over 20 years experience in the public health field, Kathleen has been at the forefront of several significant practice developments in public health aimed at addressing the effects of inequality on health.
Working in Glasgow in the 1980s, Kathleen pioneered a community development approach to health in Drumchapel, leading to the establishment of a WHO initiative in this community. In the 1990s, Kathleen managed a Community Health Project in Motherwell, which had a focus on former steel industry communities and aimed to address the effects on unemployment on health. More recently, her public health work provided leadership for NHS service developments in Maryhill, Glasgow, for young people and vulnerable families.
Her current NHS post in East Dunbartonshire is with the Community Health Partnership. Kathleen’s portfolio of public health work in the CHP includes the East Dunbartonshire Joint Health Improvement Plan, the CHP Inequality Action Plan and the CHP Health and Homelessness Plan.
