John Park Print E-mail
John Park MSP is the Labour Party's Spokesperson on Skills and represents Mid Scotland and Fife.

Prior to his election to the Scottish Parliament in 2007, John was an Assistant Secretary at the Scottish Trades Union Congress with responsibility for the organisation’s media and political strategy.

His interest in workforce development issues and skills stems from his experience in the private sector as Head of Employee Relations with Babcock Naval Services, a role he undertook in 2003, returning to Scotland after working in London for a number of years in Research and Communications for the Amalgamated Engineering Electrical Union (AEEU) and then as National Campaigns Officer for Amicus.

John’s career began at the age of 15 as an apprentice electrical fitter at Rosyth Dockyard where his trade union activism led to his election as secretary of the joint trade union negotiating committee in 1999.
