Michael Poggi is a solicitor in private practice, based in Glasgow. His firm, Berry, Poggi & Co. represent persons prosecuted throughout Scotland in relation to all sorts of criminal allegations. As well as conducting trials in Sheriff and District courts, he regularly instructs Counsel in relation to proceedings at the High Court of Justiciary.
Before returning to private practice during 2005, he was a procurator fiscal depute for 5 years. During this time, he prosecuted in Grampian, Highland and Islands; Glasgow and latterly specialised in proceeds of crime work based at Crown Office. He continues to speak to the profession about confiscation proceedings, and regularly lectures at Tulliallan to the police, regarding the role of the defence solicitor.
