Maria graduated in 1988. She first worked in learning disability in 2002 before specializing in Adult Neurological Disorders and Medicine for the Elderly.
She returned to learning disabilities in 1997, managing the SLT department within a long stay hospital in Renfrewshire, before transferring to the community team.
Since 2006, she has been training police cadets in lnclusive Communication and became a member of the Community Police last year. She specializes in issues of capacity /working with clients who are involved in the judicial process and has had two papers published in the last year discussing this issue.
