Gary Allan QC was appointed as a Senior Advocate Depute in November 2007 having served as an ad hoc advocate depute since 2001.
He has responsibility for marking and for prosecuting the most serious and sensitive criminal cases. He regularly prosecutes these cases in the High Court.
He has practised as an advocate since 1994 specialising in criminal law. He also has extensive experience in children’s hearing referral proofs involving serious child sex and physical abuse.
He has extensive experience of cases involving vulnerable witnesses, and the available special measures.
He was previously a court solicitor in Glasgow for eleven years.
