The Rt Hon Elish Angiolini QC
Lord Advocate
Elish Angiolini QC was installed as Lord Advocate on 12 October 2006. She remains Lord Advocate following the change in government at the last election, the first Lord Advocate to do so.
In 2001 she was installed as Solicitor General for Scotland - the first woman, the first Procurator Fiscal and the first solicitor to hold the post.
In July 2000 she was appointed as Regional Procurator Fiscal for Grampian and the Highlands and Islands based in Aberdeen, the first woman to hold such a post.
In 1997 she was appointed Head of Policy for COPFS, with responsibility for the development of policy across all functions of the Department. In 1995 she was appointed Assistant Procurator Fiscal at Glasgow and in 1994 she was appointed Senior Depute Fiscal at Glasgow.
She moved to Crown Office in 1992 to work as part of the Lord Advocate’s Secretariat. In 1984, following her traineeship, she spent 8 years as a Depute Procurator Fiscal in Airdrie, prosecuting in Airdrie Sheriff Court
In 1982 she graduated from University of Strathclyde and joined the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service as a trainee lawyer.wyer.
