David Lee has worked in newspaper journalism for almost 20 years. He is currently Assistant Editor of The Scotsman and has worked for the paper in various roles for seven years. He edits the paper's professional pages - Law & Legal Affairs, Education, Medical Matters and Government & Public Affairs, known in the office as Govan Pub.
He is also the editor of the highly successful Recommends supplement, an often humorous celebration of the best Scotland has to offer, which appears in the paper every Wednesday.
David also writes a satirical Pick of The Week column every Monday, edits the paper's diary and co-ordinates forward planning and long-term projects.
Earlier this year, he co-ordinated the huge Scotland 300 project, marking the 300th anniversary of the Act of Union. David organised eight debates across Scotland and sent reporters to more than 20 venues across the country to take the pulse of the nation. In 2006, he ran the Seven Wonders of Scotland project, which resulted in the biggest reader response in the paper's history, with more than 50,000 votes cast.
Away from the office, he is a harassed father-of-four and a stressed-out youth football coach.
