PETER MACMAHON is the Scottish Government Editor of The Scotsman.
MacMahon rejoined The Scotsman in January 2005 after spending four years as a freelancing during which time he edited the ground-breaking Policy Review magazine and wrote widely on Scottish and UK politics.
He was a columnist for both the Edinburgh Evening News and The Scotsman during this period.
From October 2000 to November 2001, he was press secretary to First Minister Henry McLeish at the Scottish Executive.
Before that MacMahon was assistant editor and political editor of The Mirror.
He spent nearly a decade working as a lobby correspondent in London. MacMahon was political editor and chief leader writer on the Sunday Mirror, and Westminster editor of Scotland on Sunday.
