Ewan set up the Scottish Mediation Network (www.scottishmediation.org.uk ) office in September 2002 and was appointed as its first Director.
The main focus of his recent work for SMN has been to host a collaborative process to link quality assurance across all spheres of mediation in Scotland. The result is the Scottish Mediation Register which will be launched at the end of 2007.
Ewan was in private practice as a lawyer for nearly two decades and started his mediation training in 1995. He is trained and practices as a commercial, a family and a community mediator. In his own time, he freelances as a mediator in high value family and commercial disputes. He is Director of Training for CALM, the association of Family Law Mediators accredited by the Law Society of Scotland.
Ewan also volunteers with both the Edinburgh Sheriff Court and the Edinburgh Community Mediation Services, where he has completed the SVQ Level IV qualification in mediation. Ewan has presented training across the UK and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.
Ewan has coached curling to World Championship level. He and his partner love travel and climbing mountains together.
