Andy Willox is Aberdeenshire born and bred. He worked on his family's farm and for the Ministry of Defence prior to starting his own business in 1979.
Andy is self-employed and owns his business Goldstar Cleaning Services, a cleaning and property maintenance contractors based in Aberdeen which employs 120 people. Andy also owns a small guest-house.
Andy has been an active member of FSB Scotland since 1991 and has served in various branch and regional positions. He was the FSB’s North-East of Scotland Regional Treasurer for 2 years before becoming Regional Chairman in 1998, serving until November 2002.
He was elected FSB Scotland Policy Convener in May 2002 and is also a member of the FSB’s UK Policy Unit. Andy is a member of the Scottish Executive Small Business Consultative Group and represented FSB Scotland on the Welfare to Work Ministerial Task-force and the SE Area Local Economic Forum Ministerial Task-force.
In 2000 Andy was appointed to the board of Scottish Enterprise Grampian. He is also a member of the Employment Legislation Committee of the Cleaning Support Services Association, a member of the British Institute of Cleaning Science, a Fellow of the Institute of Welfare Officers and a Burgess of Guild - City of Aberdeen.
In 2006 Andy received an OBE for services to Small Businesses in Scotland
In 2007 Andy was appointed to the FSB Executive Board and also appointed as Vice Chairman of FSB’s National Policy
Andy's personal interests include golf, music, walking, reading, and spending time with his Family.
