Shamin Akhtar Print E-mail
Shamin has worked for the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations as a Policy Officer for the past 8 years. Shamin is currently responsible for leading on SCVO’s parliamentary work and ensuring that the views and concerns of members are highlighted.

During her time at SCVO Shamin has worked on a wide range of projects that have focused on building the capacity of a wide range of voluntary and community organisations, project development and consultancy work. Shamin previous positions have included, Assistant Director of Lothian Equal Access Programme for Schools and President of NUS (Scotland).

Shamin is currently the Chair of Positive Action Training in Housing, a national charity based in Glasgow supporting black and minority ethnic people into the social housing sector.
