Carole Wilkinson was appointed to her post as Chief Executive of the Scottish Social Services Council in October 2001. Previously she held the post of Director of Social Work in Falkirk in 1995 and in 2000 she assumed responsibility for the Housing Service thus creating a joint department.
Prior to moving to Scotland Carole held a number of Senior Management posts in Liverpool and Oldham. In the late 70s early 80s she was a lecturer in social work and taught on a variety of courses for social work and social care staff.
She was elected vice-president of ADSW in 2000, becoming president in 2001. She also chaired the National Training Organisation for Personal Social Services (Topss) in Scotland. She has also participated in a number of committees and working groups associated with new legislation. Additionally, she has recently joined the 21st Century Social Work Group, set up by the Minister for Education and Young People as their Professional Adviser and is now chairing the Workforce Change Programme as part of implementing Changing Lives.
