jonathancox.jpgJonathan Cox has been co-ordinator of the Independent Asylum Commission since its launch in October 2006, with a mandate to conduct the first nationwide citizens’ enquiry into the UK asylum system.

The Commission is hearing evidence across the UK and in 2008 will publish recommendations for reform of the asylum system that are credible and humane, forceful and just, and command the confidence of the public.

Jonathan worked on policy and political communication for Rt Hon Alun Michael MP (former Minister of State at Defra and DTI) in the House of Commons and has worked with refugees since 2005.

Jonathan studied at the University of Durham, is currently an International Young Leaders Network (IYLN) scholar, and sits on the National Executive of the Christian Socialist Movement.
