Mr. De Wilde began working for the International Organization for Migration as Senior Adviser to the Regional Bureau for Asia and Oceania 1993, becoming Head of the Division for Programme Coordination, Assistant Executive Officer to the Director General, and Director of the Department of Programme Support. He is currently Chief of Mission for IOM UK, based in London, and has been in that post since October 2003.
He joined the US Foreign Service in 1969 and was posted in Saigon, Nha Trang, Taipei, Tokyo, Paris, Kigali (Chargé d’affairs a.i.), Chengdu (Consul General), and the Department of State in Washington, D.C, where he was Director of the Office of Asian Refugee Assistance until his retirement in 1993.
Jan de Wilde was born in 1946 in Washington, DC. He received a BA Degree from Wesleyan University (Connecticut), an MPA Degree from Princeton University (New Jersey).
He and his wife have three sons
