derekmitchell.jpgDerek Mitchell has been the Partnership Manager of Cosla Strategic Migration Partnership (formerly Cosla Refugee and Asylum Seekers Consortium) for just over a year. This partnership aims to bring political governance and strategic leadership to issues concerning asylum, refugees and migration.

Derek's substantive background has been in housing, homelessness and social work services as both a practitioner and policy maker. This has included spells with the Scottish Executive's Homelessness Team as a Policy Advisor and with South Ayrshire Council as their Homeless Service Manager. Derek has also worked in social work services for a number of organisations.
