Working in home care services for almost 20 years, Lorna is responsible for the strategy and development of older people’s services in Renfrewshire and for monitoring service quality and standards. Formerly, as Assistant Principal Officer (Health), she managed hospital-based social work and mental health services, working closely with health colleagues and other partners in all areas of service. She has been closely involved in developing the authority’s recently extended and combined community care, home care and telecare service, Renfrewshire Care 24. This provides 24-hour electronic monitoring and access to support for vulnerable people living alone.
Lorna is the Secretary for the Scottish Executive of the National Homecare Council, and also represents Renfrewshire Council on ADSW’s home care sub-group, which shares information, benchmarks and develops good practice across the country. She is one of three local authority representatives on the Scottish Executive’s working group on national care standards.
