Maureen Harrison took up appointment as Director of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation in 1997 and is responsible for all aspects of running the charity. Voluntary income to the Sick Kids Friends has increased by 500% in that time and as a result, facilities, equipment, services and conditions for children have been greatly improved. Recently she steered through amendments to the charity’s constitution to broaden its work supporting sick children living in the Community.
Previously, she was Scottish Director of Imperial Cancer Research Fund, responsible for setting up a chain of 60 charity shops and fundraising activities for 13 years.
In June 2006 she became Chair of the Institute of Fundraising in Scotland. Previously as Chair of the Public Affairs Committee of the Institute of Fundraising Scotland she has been involved in the work around the Charities and Trustee Investment Scotland Act and the development of Self Regulation of Fundraising in Scotland.
