Pennie Taylor is a freelance journalist, broadcaster, and NHS communications specialist. She has a particular interest in public perceptions of the health service in Scotland, and chaired the public consultation on redrawing NHS boundaries in Argyll & Clyde. She also led the public meetings held by the Kerr Group, which informed the development of a new blueprint for the NHS in Scotland, and continues to be involved in developing innovative community engagement.
From 2002 to 2004 Pennie worked with the Beatson Oncology Centre in Glasgow, helping to develop its successful recovery plan. Between 2000 and 2002 she was Head of Communications for Lothian University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Until then, Pennie was an award-winning news journalist – associate editor and health editor on the launch team for the Sunday Herald newspaper, five years as BBC Scotland’s first bi-media health correspondent, and the original health correspondent for Scotland on Sunday.
