Stewart Stevenson Print E-mail

Born in October 1946, Stewart Stevenson has represented the Banff and Buchan constituency in the Scottish Parliament ever since winning a by-election in 2001.

He was re-elected in 2003 and 2007 when he was appointed Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change.

Before becoming an MSP, Mr Stevenson worked with the Bank of Scotland for 30 years, retiring as its Director of Technology Innovation. He also lectured in the business school at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and worked in a psychiatric hospital in the 1960s.

In opposition, he served as Shadow Deputy Health and Social Justice Minister and Shadow Deputy Justice Minister. He has also been a member of several key parliamentary committees, including the Justice 1 Committee, of which he was Deputy Convenor.

Educated at Bell Baxter High School in Cupar, Fife, he later graduated from Aberdeen University with a MA in Mathematics. He lives in Banffshire with wife Sandra. His interests include photography, reading, writing and private flying.
