Stuart has been a chartered quantity surveyor for many years and was appointed Environmental Manager for the Architectural Services Division (ASD) in 2000. Stuart has developed an Environmental Management System for the ASD which is accredited to ISO 14001 (the first local authority in Scotland to achieve this).

The ASD are amongst the leading local authority architects in Scotland for sustainable construction and founded the Scottish Sustainable Construction Forum in 1999.

Stuart has extensive experience in surveying, project management, asset management and financial monitoring having started in private practice before moving from Glasgow to Dundee in 1980.
